Gordon Lightfoot Inducted to Songwriters Hall of Fame

Canadian Folk legend, Gordon Lightfoot, is getting some recognition south of the border as the New York-based Songwriters Hall of Fame have announced that Lightfoot will be inducted.
Lightfoot, the writer of hits such as "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and "If You Could Read My Mind" will be celebrated, along with this year's 4 other inductees, at an awards dinner in New York on June 14.

This years other inductees are:

- Bob Seeger, the heartlands rocker associated with the tunes "Night Moves" and "Against The Wind"

- Don Schiltz, who wrote the Kenny Rogers classic "The Gambler"

- Musical theatre writers, Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones

- Jim Steinman, who's long career has seen him write for rock bands, films and musical theatre

Hall of fame chairman Jimmy Webb (also one of the greatest songwriters of all time) say that this year's inductees "created a unique range of extraordinary contributions."
